BlueFire™ IP Routing and Switching products are upcoming integral components of NEC's overall NEON (NEC's Enterprise Open Network) commitment, providing the necessary infrastructure to converge data networking with our well-established voice technology. These competitively priced products offer a much-needed alternative in this market category while delivering the interoperability, functionality and reliability customers expect and demand. Working within a NEON environment, the BlueFire IX5010 and the BlueFire 700 Series support Voice Over IP and CCIS/FCCS for full-featured PBX-to-PBX and phone-to-phone internetworking.

The BlueFire IX5010 MultiService IP Switch Router is an extremely versatile device. It can be used to provide access to a Gigabit Ethernet LAN backbone for remote incoming WAN systems like Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Frame Relay (FR), Internet Protocol (IP) and Packet Over SONET (POS). Yet the BlueFire IX5010 can also consolidate legacy ATM, FR, IP and POS systems for transport across a Gigabit Ethernet IP WAN backbone. Of course many applications require implementing a "hybrid" integration of both of these topologies.

The BlueFire 700 IP Switch Series offers a wide variety of Layer 2/Layer 3 switch capacities with scalable fabrics ranging from 4 Gbps to 192 Gbps, all supporting both 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet. They can thus accommodate small workgroups, intermediate-to-large enterprises or corporate backbones.
